Gudmar
Gymnema Sylvester (Gudmar) is best known for helping with diabetes and all diabetes related issue such as neuropathy, heart issues, eye issues, and is also helpful with gut issues and obesity. From an Ayurvedic perspective, it has energetics which are bitter and astringent in taste, is hot in potency, has a pungent post-digestive effect (PDE), with light and dry qualities, and is good for Kapha and Vata. Active constituents: Gemnemagenin. Dosage 3-6g. Parts used: Leaves and Root.
Vijaysar
Pterocarpus Marsupium (Vijaysar) is best known for aiding management of diabetes, helping with skin disorders such as psoriasis, eczema, helps in the management of obesity, is good for peripheral neuritis, and according to Ayurvedic principles it acts as rejuvenator for all tissues. In Ayurveda, it has energetics which are bitter and astringent, cool in potency, a pungent post-digestive effect (PDE), with dry and light qualities, which balances Kapha and Pitta. Active constituents: Pstrocarpol, ptrosupin. Dosage 2-4g.
Bitter Melon
Memordica Charanita (Bitter Melon) is a fruit which contains 5-hydroxytryptamin, cucurbitacin glycocides and also yields polypeptide insulin known for its beneficial properties with diabetes, obesity, blood related disorders and liver disorders. In Ayurveda, Bitter melon has energetics which are bitter and pungent, is cold in potency, has a pungent post-digestive effect (PDE), has light and dry qualities and balances both Kapha and Pitta. Malabar Plum
Syzygium Cumini (Malabar Plum) has properties which are good for diabetes, blood related problems, is useful in malabsorption syndrome, diarrhoea and improves digestion by improving taste. Malabar plum also has many anti-viral and anti-inflammatory qualities.
